“In order to fight inauthentic representation of Africa and our vast diaspora, I’ve joined Ezibota. Ezibota is the primary social and thought platform for African and Afrodiasporic people. The vision and activity at work is a constant source of inspiration, love, history and home. I am truly privileged to be a part of the Ezibota energy.

Meet Kimani

I was born in the Bay Area and raised in the California mountains. Having spent time in Krakow, Paris, London, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and now Sacramento, I’m a village person with a fascination for the taste of urban forest air.

I am a griote – I’m a storyteller with the purpose of sustaining the history and identity of the people using all of the tools at my disposal. I’m an assiduous reader, learner, and creator. I was an athlete until my body protested. I was a materialist until my mind protested.
I studied Linguistics and Film/Digital Media Production at University of California: Santa Cruz. I’m a photographer in the NBA and I operate a creative boutique focused on digital storytelling to provide my living.
I am fiercely passionate about authenticity in storytelling and representation in all avenues. My purpose is to bring an appreciation for authenticity to the forefront of African and Afrodiasporic media culture.
